slime

Moms you have to do this with your kids! We made slime this morning. The kids had a blast and because I knew it would get everywhere it didn't freak me out. It is just cornstarch and water so it cleaned up super easy. It occupied them for a good 45 minutes too! I just kept adding more water or cornstarch till I got the right consistancy. A little water goes a long way!

Don't be scared. Just do it.

swim lessons

Grandma has been taking Katie to swim lessons. She has been quite the stinker about them. There is usually a lot of crying, whining and some true scared feelings going on. We have finally bribed, threatened and gotten her comfortable enough that last night she got right in and swam the whole time.

She can push out, flip to her back and kick about halfway down the pool. She told her teacher, "I am so fast you can't even keep up with me!"

Thumb's up and ready to go to Starbucks. We told her if she got in with no crying we would take her to get a grown-up drink afterwards. She was very excited about that. She got hot-chocolate and told everyone she got a cappaccino.

happy birthday grandpa!

I took the kids to dollar tree to pick out presents for Grandpa. Levi carried around a roll of brown paper packaging because he said, "Grandpa can use this." That was quickly trumped by race-car stickers for obvious reasons. Katie was very careful in her selection. She walked up and down every aisle. She smelled every candle. She thought about floral hair-spray, a flashlight and butterfly wings. I had just headed down the next aisle when I heard her shout, "I found it." She came running around the corner and showed me what she had picked saying, "this is exactly what he wants Mommy!" She picked him pancake mix. I. LOVE. HER. She and Grandpa do love to make breakfast together. She has such a sweet heart and it was adorable to see her so convinced of her gifts perfection. They even wrapped and made cards for Grandpa all by themselves. Grandpa we sure love you!

Balloons!

Going to see the Balloon Launch at Memorial Park is always a kick-off to fall for us. We had to go twice due to it being cancelled the first day but they did go off on Monday. The kids had a blast and we got to go with cousins too.

Kevin and Lydia's Engagement Party

Taylor's little brother Kevin is getting married in just over a month. We are super-excited for their wedding and are in love with Lydia, his fiancee. Taylor and I just passed 15 years of dating/marriage, and since we started dating so young, and we were pretty much joined at the hip in high-school, Kevin was like a little brother to me too. I always thought he was funny though and not annoying like I hear little brothers are supposed to be. He did tend to infringe upon Taylor and my ability to smooch which, looking back, was probably a pretty good thing:)

We planned a Colorado western bbq for their engagement/pre-wedding reception for all the people who can't make it out to LA. We had a photo-booth, tables and a fire-pit set up outside. Which would have been amazing if it didn't rain all night! We pulled everything in the basement and still had a blast but, really CO! It hasn't rained almost all summer. The raining out of events in the Stejskal backyard seems to be a wedding tradition in our family though, so they have been officially christened into the fam.
