30 days of self-disclipine

Taylor and I are working on being more self-disciplined. This is one of the areas we struggle the most with. Whether for valid reasons (lack of sleep/free time/whiny kids) or not (laziness, tv, love of delicious yummy food in all shapes and forms) we are not getting things done that we want/need to and are grumpy because of it. I believe God calls us to lives of discipline. Not strict no fun discipline but a turning away from laziness and selfishness. So I am going on a reverse fast. For the next 30 days I am going to make some changes. Every day. No excuses. Even if it means missing an episode of Glee or an hour of sleep. I am not talking about un-healthy living at all. So here is the list. Join me, nag me or completely ignore this little blog it's up to you:)

1- Wake up time 6 am Monday thru Friday. With a little luck the kids will sleep in and I can have some me time.

2 - Work-out/Move everyday. Go for a walk. Do a work-out tape. I am not going to be picky I am just going to get some exercise.

3 - And this really should have been first. Quiet Time with the Lord daily. I need it. My kids need me to need it and too often this is the first part that gets cut from the day.

4- 15 minute pick-up of the house every night before bed. I love when I do this the next morning but I usually make excuses the night before.

And really that is it. I am not going to have some crazy life-style change. Just a few simple things that will make a world of difference in my life. I am going to continue to take care of my kiddos purposefully and manage our home however imperfectly somedays might be. I will try to update regularly throughout the next month of changes!

Halloween Party!

We had a Halloween party at my parents house. We all dressed up and had a ton of kiddos running around. We made a monster bean bag toss, had a hay-ride and lots of yummy treats. We called it a "wear-out your costume" party. I hate only wearing a halloween costume for an hour and never seeing what our friends are wearing. Daddy aka Harry Potter with Katie the Unicorn going on a hay-ride.
Cousins Stokes and Levi saying hello. They are only 6 weeks apart in age but Stokes has teeth and is standing up already!

Nana and Papa were Woody and Jesse from Toy Story.

Harry Potter, Hermione, a unicorn and a duck. I made the scarves the night before and we printed out Gryffindor badges. We thought about making Levi a house elf but thought, 1-people wouldn't get it and 2- he might look pretty weird. Taylor's glasses are high-class, also printed on the computer:)
We had a great time with friends and family. It was so fun to see everyone's costumes. Can't wait to trick or treat on Halloween!

Cavalia

Taylor and I went to see the show Cavalia in Denver the other night. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. Think rodeo trick riding + Lipizzaner show + Cirque de Soleil. It was perfect for me. It was the coolest show I have ever been to. I would go again if I could. It was awesome to have a night without the kiddos. (Thanks mom and dad!) We got all dressed up and were way overdressed, but it was so much fun. I still keep thinking about how cool the show was. If you have a chance go go go!!!

Here we are.

Taylor and Katie at the zoo. She has been and continues to be a major "daddy's girl." Sometimes I feel left-out, but mostly I just enjoy watching their relationship. Taylor is so calm and patient with her. They have tons of silly games and routines together too. I get in trouble with Katie for not doing things "right" with her. For example: it is necessary to suck water off your toothbrush after you are done brushing your teeth. If this does not occur it is a major traumatic event around here. How could I not know that! Levi chilling at the zoo. We didn't get there until it was naptime, but both kids did really well. He sat like this the whole time we were there.

Bathtime. Hard to believe he is already 9 months old! At his doctor appt. He was in the 36th percentile for weight and 76th for height. Quite a change from the 80 and 90's we have been seeing. With him starting to crawl he has really dropped some weight.

Katie loves rasperries. Thank you Grandma Walker for teaching her this new trick. And for sneaking her a bottle the other day...She is still asking for one!
Levi's head was really dry so I rubbed some lotion in after baths. It made it really easy to spike it all over. I think this could be Senior yearbook material.

I saved $94.86!

As some of you know, I have embarked on a crazy grocery-budget-slashing adventure. My goal most weeks is to save more than 50% on my total bill. Though my budget hasn't gone down that much yet, I have been able to buy significantly more food for the same amount of money. I am building up a stock-pile right now which accounts for my spending the same amount. I hope to within the next few months drastically reduce my spending! This trip to Albertson's was my biggest savings yet!

SWAGGER WAGON

Oh man I can't express how badly I want one of these!

New GEICO Commercial - Piggy

Taylor and I were laughing so hard at this one:)

sick

Katie and the cousins at the Pine Creek football game. Katie and Daddy at the game. She was so excited to see the band and the cheerleaders who did the"high-flying-twisters." Another Daddy name for flipping in the air.
I love watching her sleep. She is so cute!
We have all been sick. For like 2 weeks now. Runny noses, coughs, sore throats. I have been a human kleenex. I can handle a lot of gross stuff but boogers really do me in. Friday, Katie started throwing up. I had just remade her bed which is a real pain. Saturday, she did it again. I feel bad for her...and bad for me. Hopefully we will have no more barfing in this house!
