katie goes to kindergarten

Katie started Kindergarten on Tuesday. I way underestimated the emotional impact it would have on all of us. She has been nervous for several weeks anticipating the big day. We have picked out special clothes and new supplies, talked over what to expect, and prayed for the big day.

 When the time came to line up she wouldn't get in line. Then in line she totally lost it. She looked right at me and cried, "Mommy!" It absolutely broke my heart. The line went inside and Katie never moved. I went up behind her and helped her along. Once she got in the class she stopped crying and from what she said, had a fun day.

That afternoon when I went to pick her up she got in the car and told a few fun things she had done. Then she looked at me, burst into tears and cried, "I'm just sooo tired." She then promptly fell asleep the rest of the way home.

Today she had been excited about going back to school and told me about all the fun things she has done. I truly believe that she is going to love being in school and grow and be challenged in so many ways. I am so excited to watch her start this journey.
